whale shark swimming
Ningaloo Reef is one of the best places in the world to swim with whale sharks. Each year between April and July, these slow-moving, gentle, filter-feeding sharks migrate to Ningaloo Reef – no-one is quite sure from where – following the mass spawning of coral.
up close with gentle giants
While little is known about the migratory habits of the whale sharks, they reliably appear on Western Australia’s Ningaloo Reef each year. Snorkelling alongside them – and getting a close-up perspective of their massive, 1.5 metre-diameter mouths – is one of the world’s greatest wildlife experiences. The plankton-feeding sharks are harmless to humans – and have even been known to ‘play’ with divers.
a day with the world's largest fish
Sal Salis has partnered with leading local operator, Ocean Eco Adventures for the up-close-and-personal experience of snorkelling alongside the harmless whale sharks. Our whale shark swims operate on Tuesday and Friday during the whale shark season. This is a full day adventure aboard the 18-metre Keshi-Mer, a fast and well-appointed vessel, which works in collaboration with a dedicated spotter plane.
