Days 1 to 4: Arrive Sal Salis for 3 nights
At 280km long, the Ningaloo Reef is one of the last healthy major coral reef systems in the world – and located just a few metres from the beach, one of the best snorkelling sites in the world! Onshore, Cape Range National Park covers over 50,000ha, comprised of tranquil beaches, rugged ranges and magnificent canyons.
Accommodation will be in our spacious Wilderness Tents – each has an eco-friendly en suite bathroom with a solar hot water shower. The social heart of the camp is also raised above the sand and coastal scrub with a bar and open lounge area with a small library. Guests help themselves to a selection of beverages from the open bar and perhaps watch the resident chef as he prepares contemporary Australian cuisine with hints of native produce. Dinner is shared with all guests and is hosted by your guides.
Enjoy daily guided wilderness activities with our passionate and knowledgeable guides, exploring the National Park on foot through gorge walks, snorkelling out over the reef or paddling in a kayak to some more remote spots along the coast.
Days 4 to 7: to Shore Thing for 3 nights
Depart from the historic Yardie Creek Station airstrip for a 45 minute flight over the Cape Range National Park and Ningaloo Reef – you might be lucky enough to spot a humpback whale or whale shark from your window! Arrive at Coral Bay airstrip for a road transfer to the jetty to board the 51ft catamaran ‘Shore Thing’.
A boat and not a cruise ship, the important things are provided, storage nooks, comfortable beds and air conditioning for hot nights. On board, you will enjoy all meals and beverages as well as snorkelling, diving, kayaking and fishing as you explore the outer Ningaloo Reef and islands. Enjoy walking along sparkling beaches and viewing turtles in their natural feeding grounds. Dugongs can be seen on occasions grazing seagrass beds and dolphins can often be seen chasing fish through the clear water. Between July and November, humpback whales are a common sight on the outer reef as they make their way north on their annual migration.
Day 7: Departure
Depart Shore Thing at 12:30 and transfer by road to Exmouth’s Learmonth Airport or to Exmouth town, where our arrangements end.
