Seasons & When to Visit

Sal Salis is closed from 01 November to mid March

March 

Offers hot days and occasional rainfall (usually associated with cyclonic conditions off-shore).  The last turtle hatchings of the season make their way to the ocean.

April to June

Mornings and evenings are cooler,  we expect offshore breezes and warm days.  This is the beginning of the whale shark season.

July to September

Nights will be cool (bring warm clothing) though days will be lovely for swimming and relaxing in the warm sun.  Humpback whales are often seen behind the Reef and from 01 August 2016 you will have to option of swimming with them.

October

Temperatures are high throughout the day,  a cool sea breeze may bring respite.  The humpback whales continue to swim south and turtles begin their nesting.

*Records show that the water temperature may vary by as much as 8°C / 26°F up or down from year to year.  EG: In May a monthly minimum of just under 20°C / 68°F and a monthly maximum of 28°C / 82°F has been recorded.
