With Sal Salis just steps from the Ningaloo Reef, there’s no single ‘best’ time to visit. Nature sets the rhythm here, and each part of the season brings its own magic – from whale sharks typically arriving in autumn and staying through to spring, to humpback whales making their migration along the coast during winter and spring. Turtles are seen year-round, with larger numbers nesting and hatching from October through to March.
The beginning and end of season offer warmer days, while mid-year brings cooler temperatures -though in northern Western Australia, it’s still beautifully mild for swimming and soaking up the sun.
As with all wildlife, timings may vary – but there’s always something remarkable to experience here, all year round.
