Perfectly positioned between Western Australia’s crown jewel, Ningaloo Reef, and the rugged beauty of Cape Range National Park, this eco-luxury escape blends raw wilderness with refined comfort.
Sixteen off-grid safari tents offer barefoot luxury among the dunes – thoughtfully designed to blend into the landscape while ensuring every comfort is considered.
Nestled amongst the dunes and just steps from Ningaloo Reef, your eco-luxury wilderness tent invites you to truly switch off. Between exploring the reef and the ranges, this is your place to relax and embrace barefoot luxury – surrounded by the sights and sounds of nature, best enjoyed from your private deck or inviting hammock.
Inside, tents are spacious, understated and comfortable. Your ample bed of handcrafted jarrah is dressed in fresh linen, your eco-ensuite bathroom comes with organic shampoo and native herb soap, drinking water and, of course, a daily cleaning service.
Sal Salis provides a sanctuary to explore immediate natural wonders of the world, with comfort at every step.
What lies before you is a ‘holiday of all holidays’. Ningaloo Reef ignites something different in everyone.
One day, you’re relaxed out on your tent’s shaded deck, encapsulated in a book, only pausing to count kangaroos.
The next, the ocean’s calling you out to swim with the resident turtles. This is completely your time… in a place like you’ve never imagined.
Nightly accommodation in the wilderness tents of Sal Salis include all your meals, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks from your open bar, return road transfers from Learmonth Airport, and national park fees.
Kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, snorkel gear, wetsuits and all guided wilderness activities are covered as well.
Please note, all activities are tide and weather dependent. You don’t need to pre-book. The Sal Salis staff will help you arrange these upon arrival.
As you arrive at Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef, you will be greeted by our friendly team with a glass of sparkling wine to celebrate the beginning of a few relaxing days by the reef. You will be escorted to your eco-luxury tent by one of our hosts, who will give you an overview of the location, the camp, and everything included in your stay.
Spend your first afternoon settling in and getting your bearings in this World Heritage-listed landscape. Perhaps take a slow walk along the Ningaloo coastline, which sits just steps from your wilderness tent, or relax with a book from your private deck or inviting hammock. Make yourself comfortable, slow down, and embrace the beauty of being completely disconnected amongst nature. Should you feel peckish, make your way to The Lodge – the social heart of Sal Salis – fully stocked with beverages, snacks (and even a cheese board on request).
Later, head down to The Lodge for sundowners paired with canapés as you watch one of Western Australia’s striking sunsets paint the sky in pink and orange hues. This is followed by a three-course dining experience, featuring contemporary plates paired with Western Australian wines, showcasing the best of the surrounding reef and ranges.
Once dinner has concluded, you will have the option to sign up for the guided nature-based experiences* planned for the following day, designed to showcase the best of the World Heritage-listed region. This typically consists of one on land and one on the reef, hosted in the morning and afternoon by our expert guides. As you walk back to your tent, look up to a starry night sky. You might spot a shooting star, or two.
*Please note: guided nature-based experiences adjust daily, with our expert guides planning activities based on conditions to showcase the best of the Ningaloo coastline.
Wake to the soothing sound of waves lapping at shore and soft morning calls of surrounding wildlife. If you’re an early riser, you’ll witness the mesmerising hues of the sun rising from behind Cape Range – a sight that is sure to leave you in awe. Whether you’re a morning person or not, it’s well worth the early wake-up call.
Meander your way to the Lodge for breakfast where you will be spoilt for choice, with an expansive range of cooked and continental options, evolving daily and inspired by the surrounding reef and ranges.
If you’ve opted for the morning guided experience, it’s now time to put on your walking shoes, hat and sunscreen – you will be heading to Yardie Creek for a gorge walk led by our passionate, expert guides. Brimming with wildlife, and home to the rare black-footed rock wallaby, you’ll explore the sheer diversity of Cape Range. Admire the spectacular contrasts from the deep blue water of the gorge to the red limestone cliff faces. It’s an easy 1.2km return walk that provides beautiful views across the gorge, creek mouth and Ningaloo Reef.
Arrive back to camp mid-morning, with time to relax, explore the surroundings, or both. With Ningaloo Reef at your doorstep and equipment readily available, you might choose to snorkel, kayak, paddleboard – or simply unwind at The Lodge or on your private deck. As midday approaches, make your way to the Lodge for a two-course lunch featuring fresh local produce.
As early afternoon rolls around, it’s time for your second optional guided experience – a drift snorkel at Turquoise Bay. This is one of our favourite off-site snorkelling spots, and it just so happens to be regularly named among Australia’s best beaches! Beneath the surface, you’ll discover an underwater world filled with vibrant coral, turtles and an abundance of marine life.
You’ll return to camp in the mid-afternoon with time to unwind. You might settle into your private hammock for an afternoon siesta, or head back out to explore the reef at your leisure.
Our daily sundowners and canapés await you at the Lodge prior to another delicious 3-course dinner under a blanket of stars.
Another day unfolds at nature’s pace, with optional guided, nature-based experiences, ever-evolving dining that reflects ‘the place’, and plenty of time to relax – whether that’s lazing in your private hammock or taking a slow stroll along the coastline.
Or, perhaps you’ve chosen to spend the day on the water with a full-day whale shark or humpback whale signature experience (additional cost). Ningaloo Reef is one of the only places in the world where you can swim alongside these majestic creatures – a truly unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime encounter that lingers long after you return to shore.
Soak up the last sunrays as you enjoy a leisurely morning, spending it in true Sal Salis style – doing whatever you like.
Begin your day with a delicious breakfast at the Lodge, as you prepare to farewell Ningaloo Reef.
